Abstract

Paediatric hypnosis is a growing therapeutic intervention that aids in managing emotional, psychological, and physical concerns in children through non-invasive techniques. By facilitating access to the subconscious mind, hypnosis enhances emotional regulation and coping mechanisms, making it a promising tool in child psychology. This paper explores the theoretical foundations, mechanisms, and efficacy of paediatric hypnosis within the Indian context, where cultural, familial, and societal influences play a crucial role in child development. Through an extensive literature review and a detailed case study, the study examines the practical applications of hypnosis in addressing stress, trauma, and behavioural challenges in Indian children. The case study provides insights into the process of hypnosis, its therapeutic outcomes, and implications for clinical practice. Findings suggest that paediatric hypnosis fosters emotional resilience, aids in trauma management, and promotes self-regulation in children. Additionally, the paper discusses challenges such as cultural perceptions, ethical considerations, and the necessity for trained professionals in hypnosis. By integrating theoretical perspectives with real-world applications, this study advocates for the inclusion of paediatric hypnosis as a mainstream intervention in Indian child psychology, emphasizing its potential to enhance psychological well-being and adaptive functioning in children.
